UK study finds microplastics, most likely from inhalation, in all regions of human lungs sampled. Did they arrive from masks?

A new UK study from Hull York Medical School sampled human lung tissue using micro-Fourier Transform Infrared spectroscopy. (micro FTIR). 39 kinds of microplastics were identified from 11 of the 13 lung tissue samples of patients who were to undergo surgery. The most commonly found microplastics were polypropylene (PP) 23%, polyethylene terephthalate (PET) 18% and resin 15%. Tissue from male donors contained nearly six times the microplastics of tissue from female donors. What does this have to do with masks? Possibly nothing. However, the disposable surgical masks that now decorate the world’s beaches and rivers and wildlands after having decorated billions of human faces happen to also be made of polystyrene and polyethylene compounds. But the most common material in these is polypropylene, because of ease of industrial handling. That was the most common microplastic found by the UK researchers in lung tissue samples.

The ongoing hostilities between Ukraine and Russia are about to expand into a tiny sliver of land called Transnistria. Officially the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic (PMR), it is an unrecognized breakaway state that is internationally recognized as part of Moldova.

Transnistria controls most of the narrow strip of land between the Dniester river and the Moldovan–Ukrainian border, as well as some land on the other side of the river's bank. Its capital and largest city is Tiraspol.

Transnistria has been recognized only by three other unrecognized or partially recognized breakaway states: Abkhazia, Artsakh and South Ossetia.

Transnistria is officially designated by the Republic of Moldova as the Administrative-Territorial Units of the Left Bank of the Dniester (Romanian: Unitățile Administrativ-Teritoriale din stînga Nistrului) or as Stînga Nistrului ("Left Bank of the Dniester") under Russian military occupation.

The present history of the region dates to 1990, during the dissolution of the Soviet Union, when the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Soviet Socialist Republic was established in hopes that it would remain within the Soviet Union should Moldova seek unification with Romania or independence, the latter occurring in August 1991. Shortly afterwards, a military conflict between the two parties started in March 1992 and concluded with a ceasefire in July that year.

Three NATO warships arrived in the southwestern Finnish port of of Turku on Monday to train with Finland’s navy as Helsinki considers the possibility of joining the U.S.-led alliance amid increased tensions with Russia over Ukraine.

Moscow, SANA- Since the start of the special military operation to protect Donbass, the number of refugees who arrived in Russia from Ukraine and Donbass has reached one million.

TASS quoted a source at the Russian security service as saying that over 974,000 people arrived in Russia from Ukraine and Donbass. Over 915,000 people have already arrived in Russia from Ukraine, the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics on April 21st.

Hounded by the international media and hated in his home city for his close ties to Russia, former German Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder insists that Germany needs Russia’s vast energy supplies to maintain its industrial power.
