Permalink Over 2/3 of Jewish Israelis oppose humanitarian aid to Palestinians starving in Gaza

Jonathan Ofir | A new Israeli Democracy Institute survey shows that 68% of Jewish Israelis oppose “the transfer of humanitarian aid to Gaza residents.” | This is a shocking data point. The Israeli Democracy Institute released a survey this week showing that over 2/3 of Jewish Israelis – 68% that is – opposed “the transfer of humanitarian aid to Gaza residents at this time.”  It gets even worse – the survey lowered the bar to exclude any possible opposition to either UNRWA (which Israel has been inciting against) or the Hamas authorities (which Israel considers terrorists). To no avail. Over two-thirds still oppose humanitarian help “via international bodies that are not linked to Hamas or to UNRWA… A majority of Jewish respondents (68%) oppose the transfer of humanitarian aid even under these conditions,” the survey notes.  The numbers are worse when it comes to right-wing Jewish Israelis, where the opposition is at 80% – four out of five. And consider that about 2/3 of Israeli voters are considered right-wing.  One really has to pause here. We are in a situation where Palestinians in Gaza are starving, people are consuming animal feed in their desperation. The week the UN’s World Food Programme reported people in Gaza are “already dying from hunger-related causes,” and a UNICEF nutrition screening in north Gaza found that 1 in 6 children under two years old are acutely malnourished. Israelis are not completely ignorant of this. They are supporting genocide by an overwhelming majority.

Edward Hendrie | The subterfuge of provocation by Hamas justifying a retaliatory response by Israel is exactly the strategy of Israel. Indeed, that is the purpose of Hamas. | The October 7, 2023, attacks by Hamas on Israel from the Gaza Strip were orchestrated by Mossad. Hamas acted as agent provocateurs under covert guidance from Mossad. The attacks were planned to justify the brutal and genocidal offensive by Israel against the Palestinians living in the Gaza Strip. Below is an excerpt from Bloody Zion explaining the creation of Hamas by Israel.

Permalink NATO has allowed Ukraine to attack Russia with F-16s – Stoltenberg

Kiev will be able to use the fighter jets outside its claimed borders, the bloc’s head has said | Once Ukraine receives F-16 fighter jets it will be free to use them against military targets inside Russia, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg has said.  Stoltenberg’s comments were made in an interview to Radio Liberty, the US government-funded broadcaster, which is scheduled to air on Friday. According to snippets released in advance, the NATO head argued that Ukraine has the right to self-defense against Russian “aggression,” which would include “striking legitimate Russian military targets outside Ukraine.”  As to when the government in Kyiv might actually receive the promised jets, Stoltenberg would not say. Each NATO member that pledged to deliver them has different policies and will decide on their own.

Permalink Ten years after Maidan: Why won’t the West admit that the coup was based on a lie?

Felix Livshitz | Evidence that external forces were involved has been suppressed for ‘political reasons’ | Ask the witnesses – It may not remain unsolved for much longer though, due to an ongoing trial of policemen at the scene on the fateful day. The legal action has been unfolding for well over a year and has received no mainstream news attention at all outside Ukraine. Katchanovski drew heavily on witness testimony and video evidence that has emerged over the course of the trial in his suppressed paper.  For example, 51 protesters wounded during the incident testified at the trial that they were shot by snipers from Maidan-controlled buildings, and/or witnessed snipers there. Many spoke of snipers in buildings controlled by Maidan protesters shooting at police. This is consistent with other evidence collected by Katchanovski, such as 14 separate videos of snipers in protester-controlled buildings, 10 of which clearly feature far-right gunmen in the Hotel Ukraina aiming at crowds below.  In all, 300 witnesses have told much the same story. Synchronized videos show that the specific time and direction of shots fired by the police not only didn’t coincide with the killings of specific Maidan protesters, but that authorities aimed at walls, trees, lampposts, and even the ground, simply to disperse crowds.

Benjamin Netanyahu has presented his plans for the "day after" the war on Gaza to the Israeli war cabinet. | Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has presented the Israeli war cabinet with a document of principles regarding the occupation's plots for the future of the Gaza Strip.  Although discussions regarding these plans have been framed under plans for the "day after" the war on the Gaza Strip comes to an end, the glaring proposition from the document is the continued direct occupation of several sectors in the Gaza Strip. Netanyahu said that the Israeli occupation forces will do so until the full "de-militarization" of the Strip is achieved, adding that their presence in the Gaza Strip will be indefinite.

Permalink Preparing for Darkness: If War Breaks with Lebanon, 60% of ‘Israel’ To Remain without Electricity

If a full-scale war breaks out on “Israel’s” northern front with Lebanon, 60% of the “Israeli” entity will suffer from weeks of power outages, while communities with tens of thousands of residents will need ventilators and respiratory support. | This is one of the potential scenarios that “Israel’s” official broadcaster, Kan, described on Tuesday evening as “terrifying”. Kan explained that this scenario came from secret recordings of “Israeli” Minister of Health, Uriel Busso, in which he warned of a “terrifying scenario that ‘Israel’ has never witnessed.” He expects long power outages throughout occupied Palestine and voices concern about how to care for settlers connected to artificial respirators.

Permalink US ‘Always Planned’ For Assange to Die in Prison

On Tuesday, the final appeal for WikiLeaks co-founder Julian Assange to avoid extradition to the United States began. Days earlier, his wife and lawyer, Stella Assange, warned that if the journalist is not released soon, the stress of the case and his confinement could kill him, adding that he “will die” if extradited to the US.

💬 “His health is in decline, mentally and physically. His life is at risk every single day he stays in prison, and if he’s extradited, he will die,” Stella Assange said at a media briefing in London.

Julian Assange, an Australian national, could face up to 175 years in prison if extradited to the United States on espionage charges.  But the US has no plans for Assange to stand trial in the United States, Dan Kovalik, a professor, human rights lawyer and peace activist told Sputnik’s The Critical Hour on Tuesday.

💬 “If [Julian Assange] is sent to the US, they’re just going to delay the trial as long as they can so that they can guarantee that he’ll die in jail,” Kovalik explained. “That’s always been the plan.”

Permalink Western feminism's silence on Gaza lays bare its moral bankruptcy

Maryam Aldossari | Some western 'champions' of the feminist cause have reserved their fury for the plight of Israeli women, ignoring the catastrophic suffering in Gaza | From the outset of the war on Gaza, an unsettling narrative has permeated western media, portraying Israel as a paragon of civilisation starkly contrasted against the bastion of backwardness that is the Middle East. Some pundits have even gone as far as reducing its people to the level of the animal kingdom Such bias is nothing new, further amplified in the UK by outlets such as UnHerd, as media propaganda continues the unsettling tradition of misrepresenting the Arab community. But it has been unexpectedly troubling to hear such distortions echoed by British feminists and activists.  If you are following well-known UK feminists in hopes of finding a united outcry and empathy for the violence faced by Palestinian women and children, I am afraid you will be deeply disappointed.

Permalink Documents show Israeli forces fired on UN food convoy in Gaza: CNN

CNN has received correspondence between the UN and the Israeli occupation forces indicating that both sides reportedly agreed upon the convoy's path before the bombing. | On February 5, Israeli occupation forces (IOF) opened fire on a United Nations convoy carrying vital humanitarian aid in central Gaza, eventually blocking the trucks' progress to the northern part, where Palestinians are on the verge of famine, according to documents shared exclusively by the UN and CNN's analysis.  CNN has received correspondence between the UN and the IOF indicating that the convoy's path was agreed upon by both sides before the bombing. According to an internal incident report created by UNRWA, the major UN assistance agency in Gaza, and obtained by CNN, the vehicle was one of ten in a convoy that was stopped at an IDF holding position when it was fired on. Most of the cargo, primarily wheat flour, which was required to produce bread, was destroyed.  Tracing the Israeli strike reveals the tremendous problems that humanitarian organizations confront in delivering supplies to Gaza's more than 2 million residents due to Israeli siege and obstacles.

The backing from the US President is expected to garner greater support from allies for Rutte's nomination.  Earlier on Wednesday, Politico stated that approximately two-thirds of NATO nations are currently supporting the nomination of Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte to assume leadership of NATO this year. Permalink 'Germany is Doomed': MEP Paints Unflattering Picture of Berlin's Economic Prospects

Germany's policies implemented in the wake of the Ukrainian conflict escalation in February 2022 translated into serious losses for the German economy. | Under the leadership of Chancellor Olaf Scholz and his government, Germany did its best to sever itself from cheap Russian energy and to cut all economic ties with Russia regardless of how beneficial they were to the German economy.  The shutdown of the last three German nuclear power plants in 2023 was unsurprisingly followed by it ceasing to be a power exporter and becoming a power importer instead, even as Scholz boasted that his country is done with nuclear power generation. [...] In the meantime, it appears that Germany is importing as much gas from Russia as it was before February 2022, albeit in a much more costly way, said Dr Gunnar Beck, member of the European Parliament for the rightwing Alternative for Germany (AfD) party.

💬 “The difference is that Europe is now importing Russian gas via third countries to disguise the origin of the gas. So they can pretend that they've reduced gas supplies from Russia, and they are honoring the sanctions, but they just continue as they did before by importing that same gas through third countries. And it's been officially declared to be gas from other sources,” he explained.

Ekaterina Blinova | WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange may be extradited to the US in the wake of the two-day hearing at London's High Court. What would that mean for freedom of speech? | A legal team of WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange is fighting to prevent his extradition to the US where he will face 17 counts of espionage and one charge of computer misuse.  Assange, who made classified data provided to him by Chelsea (born Bradley) Manning in 2010 public, shedding light on the US' alleged war crimes during its invasions and occupation of Afghanistan and Iraq, could receive a prison term of up to 175 years.

💬 "If Assange were to be extradited to the United States, no journalist in the world would be safe," Alfred de Zayas, professor of international law in Geneva, former UN independent expert on international order (2012-18), and a retired senior lawyer with the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights, told Sputnik.  "Essentially it would mean that any journalist who publishes information that the US government does not like would be subject to persecution and prosecution. His extradition would set a very toxic precedent that the core principle of refugee law and asylum law no longer protects persons who have a well-documented fear of persecution, as codified in article 1 of the Geneva Refugee Convention."

Permalink Torture tactics 'Israel' uses to kill Palestinian prisoners: Report

The Prisoners' and Ex-Prisoners' Affairs Committee has detailed in a new report all the methods of torture "Israel" utilizes to slowly and painfully kill Palestinian prisoners. | The Prisoners' and Ex-Prisoners' Affairs Commission revealed in a new report based on a visit its lawyer took to the "Gush Etzion" prison a few days ago, that almost 90% of the 105 Palestinian prisoners have been physically assaulted since the moment of detention until arrival at the prison.  The Committee's lawyer described the catastrophic situation in the prison, emphasizing the overcrowded cells that force prisoners to sleep on the floor, as mattresses, clothing and blankets are unavailable. This is paired with the impossibility of shutting the window, as it is a space in the wall lined with metal bars, keeping the cell piercing cold. When it rains, water seeps into the cells, forming puddles where prisoners sleep.  The torture tactics Israeli wardens use are further highlighted in the report. Prison wardens bang on the doors in the middle of the night to wake prisoners up and deprive them of sleep, and sometimes go as far as to force them out onto prison grounds, line them up, and keep them on foot for no reason. It is worth noting that no consideration for medical cases among prisoners is taken, as they are deliberately neglected. The report indicated that these are methods "Israel" uses to inflict slow and torturous deaths on Palestinian prisoners.

Permalink Israeli economy plunges almost 20% as Gaza war takes heavy toll

Israel's economy shrank by far more than expected in the final quarter of last year in the wake of the war on the besieged Gaza Strip, marking sharpest contraction since the pandemic. | Israel’s Central Bureau of Statistics said in a statement that economy plunged 19.4% in the final three months of 2023, as significant resources were diverted to the regime’s military engagement in the war on the coastal sliver. That is the equivalent of a fall of 5% between October and December.  According to British daily business newspaper the Financial Times, the significant downturn in Israel’s economy was partially due to mobilizing 300,000 reservists, who abandoned their jobs and businesses for extended presence in the military.  Other factors involved the Tel Aviv regime’s funding housing for over 120,000 settlers, who left the northern and southern regions of the 1948-occupied territories close to the border with the Gaza Strip.

Alarming new official data from the UK government shows that England has suffered a staggering one million deaths from Covid mRNA vaccines in just two years. | The vaccinated population in England has suffered an excessive number of deaths compared to the unvaccinated population.  According to the UK Government department known as the UK Health Agency (UKHSA), by 3rd July 2022, 18.9 million people had refused the first dose of the COVID-19 injection, 21.5 million people had refused the 2nd dose of the COVID-19 injection, alongside 2.6 million people who had received the first dose but refused the second, and 30.4 million people had refused the third dose of the Covid-19 injection alongside 8.9 million people who had received the second dose but refused the third.  According to the UKHSA’s figures, 63.4 million people were eligible for vaccination at this point. Therefore, 18.9 million people refused the COVID-19 vaccine in England and remained completely unvaccinated.  But on top of this, a further 2.6 million refused a second dose, meaning 21.5 million people were not double vaccinated, and 8.9 million people refused a third dose, meaning 30.4 million people were not triple vaccinated. Permalink Why This One Simple Chart Will End Wokeism

Michael Shellenberger and Peter Boghossian | By describing the psychopathological characteristics of extremist movements, we will reduce their power | Over the last few years, Woke progressives have behaved in increasingly odd ways. Black Lives Matter activists in Washington, D.C., screamed at and hovered over a woman sitting peacefully in a restaurant, demanding that she raise her fist in a salute. Climate activists threw soup at a Van Gogh painting, dumped milk on the floor of a grocery store, and cemented their hands to an airport runway. And transgender activists claimed, falsely, that there was a “genocide” against trans people, even though there’s no evidence that trans-identified people are being killed at higher rates than non-trans people.  Some of these behaviors can be explained by the fact that Wokeism is a religion. Two years ago, the two of us published a chart, “Woke Religion: A Taxonomy,” and an accompanying essay, which described how race, climate, trans, and other Woke activists had created their own versions of original sin, taboos, and myths. We turned the taxonomy into a poster and sold hundreds of copies. Both of us still get emails from people saying that the chart helped them to understand why so many previously secular people appear to be in the grip of a deeply superstitious religion.
