Permalink Israel lost deterrence against Iran after weak attack

An Israeli media report says the regime's Saturday attack on Iran was so weak that it effectively diminished the regime’s deterrence against the Islamic Republic. | In a report on Saturday, the Israeli Channel 12 described the operation as insignificant, saying that it demonstrated Iran’s status as a major power in the region.  The report further said that the attack has left Israel’s “allies” in the region disappointed. Despite the previous warnings of the officials of the Islamic Republic to the illegal Zionist regime to avoid any adventurous actions, the Tel Aviv regime attacked several military sites in the provinces of Tehran, Khuzestan, and Ilam on Saturday morning in a tension-causing action, Iran Air Defense Force said.  Saying that the Israeli regime's attack was successfully countered by the country's integrated air defense system, it added that the Zionists' aggressive action caused limited damage to several sites. The Iranian Army said four of its servicemen had been martyred in the attacks.

Permalink BRICS 2024 Kazan Special Coverage

Simplicius | The BRICS 2024 summit kicked off as the big highlight of the week. There are an endless amount of things to be said from a variety of different analytical perspectives, but we’ll just mention a few of the salient points that stick out most for now. | Overall, the key takeaway from the BRICS summit can be the following. Look closely at some of the scenes presented: India and China after having just negotiated a settlement to their border conflict, Armenia and Azerbaijan hashing out their disputes, other “ostracized” members of the world community being greeted with open arms, no leering judgmental supremacism, condescending sermonizing and pompous pontificating like so often seen by the West at their global institutions, from the EU to the UN, etc.  The BRICS’ strongest achievement is sending a message of acceptance, compromise, openness, civility, and cooperation—the true definition of anti-illiberal qualities, the same the West so adamantly claims it champions. There was a kind of contagious energy that was palpable in the air: an alternate vision for a world led by sovereign grownups, not the small-minded, nervous little elitist compradors and pushy apparatchiks, the likes seen dotting the halls of the West’s equivalent institutions.

Permalink Kamala Harris means nuclear war – RFK Jr.

The neocon-backed candidate would trigger an atomic conflict between the US and Russia, the former Democrat has said | Supporters of Kamala Harris in the US presidential election would effectively be voting for a global thermonuclear war, Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has argued in his latest campaign video.  Kennedy, a long-time Democrat who ran against President Joe Biden in the party primaries, endorsed Republican candidate Donald Trump in August. Harris, who was elevated to the nomination after the Democrats pressured Biden to drop out of the race, was recently endorsed by former Republican VP Dick Cheney.

💬 “A vote today for Kamala Harris is a vote for Dick Cheney, who lied to get a war started, in which more than a million people died,” Kennedy said in a video message released on Thursday.

Cheney, he explained, was a leading “neoconservative” during the presidency of George W. Bush (2001-2009), and the “driving force” of the unprovoked US invasion of Iraq in 2003, that claimed the lives of around a million Iraqis and some 4,800 American and allied troops.

Moscow aims to end the impunity of the US and its allies, the Russian president has said | Moscow has had enough of the West’s impunity and hypocrisy and intends to ensure that there is justice in the world again, Russian President Vladimir Putin has said. There is no justice here,” Putin said. “We want to change this. And we will.”

The Russian president also dismissed as “nonsense” the claims that Moscow was somehow behind “mayhem” on British streets. Whatever may be happening in the UK is the result of London’s own policies, Putin said.

Permalink GAZA: BRITAIN’S SEVENTH GENOCIDE

Mark Curtis | Since the 1960s, Labour and Conservative governments have supported or acquiesced in several cases of genocide across Africa, the Middle East and Asia. | Many people in Britain I speak to struggle to understand how their government can acquiesce in, still less support, Israel’s genocide of Palestinians in Gaza.  We see the killing, maiming and destruction on a daily or even hourly basis, in real time, knowing our government is complicit. It seems incomprehensible to many.  But it’s only hard to understand if one has little knowledge of Britain’s foreign policy in recent decades, or an overly rosy picture of just what Whitehall stands for in the world.  And if people do suffer from that historical ignorance, it is not their fault, but the fault of a media system that refuses to tell people the truth about our past as well as our present.  The reality is that, tragically, the UK establishment’s complicity in genocide is nothing new. There is a long history to Britain backing forces committing genocide – defined as an attempt to destroy a national, ethnic, racial, or religious group.
