Permalink The Onion buys Alex Jones's Infowars at auction

Satirical news publication The Onion has bought Infowars, the media organisation headed by right-wing conspiracy theorist Alex Jones, for an undisclosed price at a court-ordered auction. | The Onion said that the bid was secured with the backing of families of victims of the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting, who won a $1.5bn (£1.18bn) defamation lawsuit against Jones for spreading false rumours about the massacre. A judge in Texas ordered the auction in September, and various groups – both Jones’s allies and detractors – had suggested they would bid for the company. Jones founded Infowars in 1999. He has vowed to continue broadcasting using a different platform. In a rambling video message posted on Thursday morning, Jones called the takeover a “total attack on free speech”.

Permalink Israeli Forces Used Drones to 'Deliberately and Persistently' Target Injured Palestinians, Including Children: UK Doctors

A top UK surgeon broke down while recounting his experience at Gaza's Nasser Hospital during an evidence session on the healthcare situation in what was once the largest city in the State of Palestine.

💬 "What I think I found particularly disturbing was that a bomb would drop, maybe on a crowded, tented area, and then the drones would come down," Professor Nizam Mamode told the UK Parliament during the International Development Committee's session before he was overcome with emotion.  "I can only imagine just how it has impacted you and it will continue to impact you, I feel, because you can't unsee what you've seen but being able to share that with us really helps us hold legislators, particularly, to account," Champion added before Mamode continued.

In the clip, Committee Chair Sarah Champion then stepped in to thank the former surgeon for attending the session to help hold legislators accountable.

💬 "The drones would come down and pick off civilians, children, and we had description after description," Mamode said. "This is not an occasional thing; this was day after day after day, operating on children who would say, 'I was lying on the ground after a bomb had dropped and this quadcopter came down and hovered over me and shot me.'"

Orit Strock said, 'national rights over this land belong only to the Jewish people' | Israeli Minister of Settlements and National Missions Orit Strock has said she’s working to ensure Israel can annex as much land in the West Bank as possible during the incoming Trump administration but said the Palestinians that live there don’t have rights to the land and shouldn’t have the right to vote. [...] Trump’s appointment of former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee as ambassador to Israel signals the administration will back annexation.  Huckabee is an Evangelical Christian who believes God gave historic Palestine to the modern state of Israel. He denies Israel is occupying the West Bank, which he called “Judea and Samaria,” and has previously claimed that there’s “no such thing as a Palestinian” and argued the Palestinians should be expelled to other Arab states.  In Huckabee’s first interview with Israeli media after Trump announced he would be the envoy to Israel, the former governor was asked if the administration would support annexation of the West Bank. He said, “Of course … There has never been an American president that has been more helpful in securing an understanding of the sovereignty of Israel… and I fully expect that will continue.”

Permalink Twin Israeli airstrikes target Syrian capital & suburb, kill over dozen people

At least fifteen people have lost their lives after Israeli military aircraft carried out airstrikes against positions in the western flank of Damascus and the outskirts of the Syrian capital. | Syria’s official news agency SANA, citing a military source, reported that Israeli warplanes launched an assault from the direction of occupied Golan Heights at around 3:20 p.m. local time (1220 GMT) on Thursday, targeting several residential buildings in the Mazzeh neighborhood of Damascus and the Qudsaya area in the Damascus countryside. The source added that the attack resulted in 15 people killed and 16 others injured. He noted that there were women and children among the casualties and that the toll was preliminary and could rise. The Israeli airstrikes against Syria come amid the Zionist regime’s bloody onslaughts against Palestinians in the besieged Gaza Strip, and the Lebanese nation.

Permalink Zionists in Amsterdam

Patrick Lawrence | What happened in one Dutch city is the world since the Zionist regime began its limitlessly barbaric assault on Gaza: Western powers blessed it, and Western media determined to hide it from view. | In the annals of “anti–Semitism,” if not anti–Semitism in its un-weaponized form, the events before, during, and since an ill-fated soccer match in Amsterdam last week merit a prominent entry.  We find in these chaotic days a picture in miniature of the sickness that has overtaken “the Jewish state,” the shameless apology those purporting to lead the Western post-democracies make for the straight-out barbarities of Zionist zealots, and the full-frontal disinformation spread by corporate and state-funded media as they pose as the first line of defense against disinformation.  It’s a three-fer, then, the whole banana in one place and at one time —all of this in the cause of the Zionist regime as it prosecutes its yearlong genocide in Gaza and sets about expanding its campaign of murder and destruction across West Asia. Zionist Israel lost, lost big in Amsterdam. The horror it has made of itself is now plain for the world to see. The apologist pols, already hanging on for dear life in the post-democracies, lost. Mainstream media lost.

The West buries a genocide – by making victims of Israel’s football thugs (Jonathan Cook) | If the West was really worried about Europe’s Nazi past, it would be better advised to stop stoking an all-too-real new antisemitism: incitement against Arab and Muslim minorities. | There has never been a harder time to do political and media analysis than right now. Each day, the western establishment unmoors itself further from reality. Its priorities are so inverted, so obscene, that the most appropriate response is ridicule. The latest example was the reaction late last week to violent clashes in Amsterdam before and after a match between Maccabi Tel Aviv and the local team Ajax.  The ridiculous framing from western politicians, assisted by mainstream media outlets, was that the visiting Israelis were “hunted down” in what supposedly amounted to a “pogrom” by Dutch street gangs, comprising mainly youths of Arab and Muslim heritage.  According to this official narrative, the violence on Amsterdam’s streets was further proof of a rising tide of antisemitism sweeping Europe and imported from the Middle East. More, the attacks were presented as having disturbing echoes of Europe’s Nazi past.

Andrzej Duda has said the Aegis facility at Redzikowo was never about defense against ‘Iranian ICBMs’ | Speaking at the opening ceremony for the Redzikowo base on Wednesday, Duda quoted the words of the Polish president at the time, Lech Kaczynski, revealing the real purpose of the missile base.

💬 “Andrzej, these missiles will not defend Poland,” Duda said. “They will actually protect areas far, far away from Poland from missiles that could potentially be launched from Iran, for example. But this will be an American missile base, which will contain some of the greatest secrets of the United States and which the United States will guard.”

“And this is very important, because this American base will be built on our soil, in Poland,” Duda continued, quoting his predecessor. “And from that moment, when this base stands here, the whole world will see clearly that this is no longer the Russian zone of influence. And from the Polish point of view, this is the most important thing strategically.”

Permalink We would like to remind Washington, London, Paris and Brussels that they continue to play with fire

Maria Zakharova (Мария Захарова) (Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman) | Our reaction in case Ukraine receives permission for strikes [into Russian territory] | Attention has been drawn to publications in the British press about the intention of British Prime Minister Starmer and French President Macron to try to persuade incumbent US President Biden to authorize Kyiv to launch strikes with Storm Shadow missiles deep into Russia before Trump's inauguration. According to media reports, there are hopes in London that the White House will finally agree to such a move.

On the same day, in an interview with a French publication, French Defense Minister Sebastien Lecornu announced that he had signed an order regarding the transfer of about 10 long-range Scalp missiles to the AFU, with the help of which, as Paris hopes, Kyiv will be able to strike behind the front line. You know, when the Kyiv regime strikes behind the front line,” I would like to say to Lecornu, ”the main thing is that it does not hit the French embassy.

These publications coincided with the information that appeared in Ukrainian social networks about the intention of Zelensky's regime to pass off Western missiles as Ukrainian-made products, changing their markings to hit Russia with them—such a bloody scam in the style of Zelensky and the whole gang! We understand perfectly well that this is impossible without the approval of his handlers. We would like to remind Washington, London, Paris, and Brussels that they continue to play with fire. 👇

❗️ The President of Russia has clearly outlined our reaction in case Ukraine receives permission for the strikes as mentioned above - we will regard this as a de facto entry of NATO countries into a direct armed conflict with Russia.

This would change the essence of the conflict and its nature, with all the consequences that entails. The response to the use of Western long-range systems on the territory of our country will be immediate and devastating for them. (DeepL + Gram.)

Permalink Medvedev: "The worst Case Scenario [nuclear war] Remains the Most Likely"

Deputy Chairman of Russia's Federation Council, Dmitry Medvedev, said today that European leaders are pushing the Russia-Ukraine conflict to an irreversible stage, and as such "the worst case scenario remains the most likely."

💬 “After Trump’s victory, European leaders seem to be having a “fall exacerbation.” The goal is to push the conflict with Russia into an irreversible phase. One moment, a Frenchman crows about supporting Kyiv if America steps back; the next, NATO officials pontificate on how to intensify the war against us.

Now, German chancellor candidate Merz has issued an ultimatum to Russia: either end the Special Military Operation (SMO) or, the next day, he’ll send the Ukrainians German Taurus missiles. It’s clear that such “ultimatums” are merely election tactics. It’s also clear that these missiles won’t fundamentally change the course of combat. Their delivery would only prolong the agony of the Bandera regime. But, the risk of escalating the conflict to its most dangerous stage with missile strikes increases many times over. Our President has warned about this.

Frankly, it’s astounding how much the current generation of European politicians seems determined to drag the war onto their own territory—to the clear delight of the Americans and against the wishes of their own people. The “vaccine” of World War II has completely lost its effect. Experienced, or even simply wise, European leaders have faded into history. They’ve been replaced by trivial figures with inflated self-importance. And so, the worst-case scenario remains the most likely.”
