Permalink War On Children: Over a million Gaza children suffering mental health crisis

With symptoms ranging from nightmares to aggression, the psychological toll on Gaza children is unimaginable. | The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) has raised the alarm over the mental health crisis affecting nearly all 1.1 million children in the Gaza Strip as a result of the Israeli ongoing war in the blockaded territory.  In a report released Sunday, UNICEF revealed that Gaza’s children are grappling with nightmares, severe anxiety, and paralyzing fear caused by the relentless Israeli bombardments, the loss of family members, and the worsening humanitarian crisis.  The report also noted that at least 19,000 Palestinian children have been orphaned since the war started in October 2023. Mental health experts warn that the profound psychological effects of the war on these children could linger for generations.  This comes shortly after a recent study uncovered the harrowing impact of "Israel's" war on Gaza’s children, revealing that an overwhelming 96% feel their death is imminent and nearly half wish for it as an escape from their trauma. With symptoms ranging from nightmares to aggression, the psychological toll is unimaginable. Experts warn that the ongoing Israeli atrocities risk shaping a future defined by deep-rooted psychological scars.

НАТО направит в Балтийское море около десяти кораблей, пишут СМИ (РИА Новости)(07.01.2025) | NATO will send about ten ships to the Baltic Sea to protect underwater infrastructure, Finnish broadcaster YLE reported, citing sources. | “NATO will send naval forces to the Baltic Sea to protect important underwater structures. [...] In total, there will be about ten of them (ships. - Editor's note). They will remain at sea until April”, - stated in the material. According to YLE, the ships will begin to arrive at the end of the week. They will be located, for example, near energy and telecommunications cables and will become a “deterrent,” writes the publication.  The EstLink 2 power line between Finland and Estonia went down on Dec. 25, Finnish power grid company Fingrid reported. Finnish police suspect that the Cook Islands-flagged Eagle S vessel anchored to cut the EstLink 2 power cable and damaged four communication cables. Finnish Customs has claimed without evidence that the Eagle S is allegedly involved in the transportation of Russian energy resources.  Four undersea telecommunications cables failed on December 25 and 26. Three of them run between Finland and Estonia, and one cable links Finland to Germany. Law enforcers are investigating the case as aggravated damage. The criminal investigation is being led by the Finnish Central Criminal Police.  Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova expressed hope that the investigation will be brought to a conclusion and that the hysteria in the Western media over the alleged Russian and Chinese trace in the damage to cables in the Baltic Sea will subside.

Permalink An Expert recalls Zurabishvili's relatives who fought against the USSR

Former Georgian President Salome Zurabishvili dreams of involving her country in a war with Russia, but she will not succeed, authoritative Georgian expert Petre Mamradze told the VZGLYAD newspaper.

💬 “Going to war with Russia is Zurabishvili's idée fixe, a family inheritance,” the expert said. - Remember, her uncle Mikhail Kedia, according to archival documents, collaborated with the Nazis against the USSR.” However, according to him, “Zurabishvili's idea about the necessity of war with Russia will not develop”.

💬 “Now the former president is still very relevant to certain political circles, mainly in the Baltic states, Poland, in the European Parliament, among US congressmen who are engaged in lobbying. “It is being used by forces that really wanted Georgia to open a 'second front', who hoped that forces that were submissive to them would return to power in Georgia, and the pragmatists were overturned,” Petre Mamradze said. “However, time will pass and the bet on her will burst like a soap bubble. She will be marginalized and everyone will see that. Therefore, I believe that Zurabishvili has no chances to return to big politics,” the analyst noted.

The Italian newspaper L'AntiDiplomatico reported that former Georgian President Salome Zurabishvili plans to promote the idea that war with Russia is necessary. The publication notes that the Georgian politician intends to raise this issue at various “academic conferences” as a fellow of the American McCain Institute. The publication points out that Zurabishvili will spread the ideas of the European Union and NATO, which seek to unleash war between Tbilisi and Moscow. (Translation: DeepL (free version))

Permalink Were Trump's Plans for Greenland Hidden Away in Biden Pentagon's 2024 Arctic Strategy?

Donald Trump has riled up America's allies and the world with his seemingly outlandish plans to purchase Greenland. But setting aside the bluster and pomp, Trump's approach isn't really all that different from that of his predecessors, international affairs observer Irina Strelnikova says. | The Arctic Strategy published by the Pentagon in mid-2024 outlined Greenland's central role in US plans for the region, and Donald Trump's strategy is merely making a few corrections, Strelnikova, a researcher at Moscow's Higher School of Economics, told Sputnik.  “The new strategy expressed the need to expand US capabilities for conducting a campaign in the Arctic, particularly in the areas of communications, intelligence, surveillance and interaction with allies and partners,” the observer recalled. 💬 As for Trump's plans, “from the perspective of whether this is really something fundamentally new or unexpected – it’s not. This is just Trump’s standard, peculiar manner of asserting himself,” Strelnikova said.

Permalink CIA can read WhatsApp messages – Zuckerberg

Encryption prevents Meta from accessing chats, but it is powerless when someone logs directly into a user’s phone, the company’s CEO has said | Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg has acknowledged that US authorities, including the CIA, can access WhatsApp messages by remotely logging into users’ devices, effectively bypassing the platform’s end-to-end encryption.  Speaking on the Joe Rogan Experience podcast on Friday, Zuckerberg explained that while WhatsApp’s encryption prevents Meta from viewing message content, it does not protect against physical access to a user’s phone.  His comments came in the context of a question by Rogan about Tucker Carlson’s quest to set up an interview with Russian President Vladimir Putin. In February last year, while speaking about finally succeeding in talking to Putin after three years of failed attempts, Carlson blamed the US authorities, namely the NSA and the CIA, for stalling his efforts. According to Carlson, the agencies spied on him by tapping his messages and emails, and leaked his intentions to the media, which “spooked” Moscow from talking to him. Rogan asked Zuckerberg to explain how this could have happened given encryption safeguards that are supposed to protect messages. [...] “What they do is have access to your phone. So it doesn’t matter if anything’s encrypted, they could just see it in plain sight,” he clarified. Zuckerberg mentioned tools such as Pegasus, a spyware developed by the Israeli company NSO Group, which can be covertly installed on mobile phones to access data.

Permalink Looting The 'Allies'

With regards to Trump attempting to land grab Canada, Greenland and the Panama Canal, Agit Papadakis offers some interesting observation:

💬 The Bozo [Trump] Doctrine, the Bibi [Netanyahoo] Doctrine, and the Tayyip [Erdogan] Doctrine, are all converging on a new post-Westphalian world disorder of imperialism gone nuts.
For the cucked vassals of the old order this means either grow a pair and resist or lose every shred of sovereignty, dignity, and material comfort you have left. Cucks like the EU, Australia, Japan, South Korea and wounded weak states like Syria, Lebanon, and Iraq are all suffering the torment of being raped and ravaged by powerful rogue states.

Bozo didn't lose a minute to join the melée. He looked at the economic train wreck he was inheriting and decided it was now or never to hoist the Jolly Roger over his big but old and rusty military machine and what's left of the once mighty dollar's hegemony.

His first victims would be the weak and cucked vassals who poured their sorry excuse for a military and their treasure into the Ukraine black hole. Bozo knows that his unfurling of the black banner will automatically dissolve those BS "alliances" with weak vassals that were never but a frilly negligée concealing America's naked imperialism, as revealed by the the lonely squeak of the French chihuahua protesting Bozo's Greenland grab and threatening to resist.

The cucked chihuahuas of the Rules Based Order are suddenly up against Judgement Day, naked and defenseless between two raging behemoths, Amerisrael and Russia, while an even bigger and scarier one, China, looms over everybody else.

It's the 19th century with nukes and hypersonics and space jets, which would normally be followed by the world wars of the 20th. But with 21st century speed, it shouldn't take longer than a decade if that.

Thomas Fazi | His sabre-rattling betrays a new foreign strategy | With just over a week to go to his inauguration, Donald Trump is already sabre-rattling. He ostentatiously visited the island this week, purporting to be a tourist; but he was accompanied by Sergio Gor, the powerful incoming director of the White House Presidential Personnel Office, and was seen handing out “Make Greenland Great Again” hats. “Don Jr. and my reps landing in Greenland”, Trump posted on social media. “The reception has been great. Yoon Suk Yeol’s compound is barricaded with vehicles and barbed wire as hundreds of supporters rally to his cause | The home of the impeached South Korean president was turned into a “fortress” on Wednesday as authorities prepared to mount a second arrest attempt.  Layers of barbed wire and vehicle blockades were set up outside Yoon Suk Yeol’s compound as hundreds of his supporters rallied to his cause.  Mr Yoon avoided an arrest attempt last week after his bungled Dec 3 martial law decree plunged South Korea into its worst political crisis in decades. Permalink Sizing Up Israel Foreign Ministry's Biblical Map: ‘Promised Land’ Provocation or Expansion Plan?

An alleged Biblical map of the Kingdom of Israel, shared by the Israeli Foreign Ministry's Arabic-language account on X, has touched off heated debates on social media and raised alarm among Arab officials.  What’s Behind the Commotion? The map depicts the boundaries of the ancient Kingdoms of Israel and Judah as described in the Tanakh, the Hebrew Bible. The biblical land overlaps with areas of modern-day Palestine, Jordan, Syria, and Lebanon. The post recounts the biblical story of the Kingdom of Israel, said to have existed 3,000 years ago, celebrates the revival of the Jewish people, and refers to Israel as "the only democracy in the Middle East."  Fierce Social Media Debate Erupts: Many Arab-language users criticized the map, arguing that the biblical version of Israel’s history is allegedly not thoroughly supported by archaeological evidence or other historical sources. Some netizens took issue with Israel’s claim of being the “sole democracy in the Middle East”. Some characterized the post as a provocation, accusing Israel of being what they call an "occupying power" and of having "stolen" the land from Arabs.  Arab Officials Blast Biblical Map as Deliberate Provocation: The PA: The Palestinian Authority condemned the map as a violation of international resolutions and laws. Jordanian Foreign Ministry: Amman denounced the map as "baseless" and "false," urging Tel Aviv to halt "provocative actions and reckless statements." Qatari Foreign Ministry: Doha warned that the publication of the map could undermine any peace prospects in the region, especially amid the ongoing Gaza war.  What is "Greater Israel"? Arab News associated the map with the concept of "Greater Israel," which envisions the expansion of Israel to the territorial boundaries outlined in the Tanakh. The Movement for Greater Israel was established after the Six-Day War of 1967, during which Israel captured the Sinai Peninsula, the Gaza Strip, the West Bank, the Old City of Jerusalem, and the Golan Heights. The idea is popular with Israeli officials and the nation’s media. In 2024, Israel’s Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich stated that "the future of Jerusalem is to expand to Damascus." In September, The Jerusalem Post published an article suggesting Lebanon could be part of Israel’s "promised land," though the piece was later removed. Following the downfall of now ex-Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, Israel fully occupied the Golan Heights. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has declared that this territory will remain an integral part of Israel "for eternity."
