Permalink BBC launches HILARIOUS ‘disinformation’ department to keep you safe

Clayton Morris | The BBC is trying to target ‘misinformation’ with fake Twitter accounts. They admitted as such with the launch of their project called "Verity". That’s interesting because Twitter expressly forbids fake accounts but the BBC says that they are doing this to investigate conspiracy theories. So they are allowed to create fake accounts but the rest of us are not.  The journalist who introduced this, Marianna Spring, says that she is trying to look into conspiracy theories such as those around Covid. She doesn’t say which ones because most conspiracy theories have proven to be true, but she will let us know on her upcoming podcast called “Marianna in Conspiracyland.” Can’t wait. Meanwhile, reporter Max Blumenthal has shown that Spring was connected to British journalist Paul Mason and his plot to smear investigative journalists. He asked her if she ever followed through with these meetings on Twitter but she has not replied. See more here: youtube.com

Permalink WHO do you think you are? Outrage over 'unprecedented land grab' that 'could see World Health Organization force Britain, the U.S. and Australia into lockdowns in future pandemics'

The WHO could order governments to impose rules in future disease outbreaks --Tory MPs have called for a block on powers that would dictate UK health policy | New powers could potentially plunge Britain, the US and Australia into lockdown measures at the whim of the World Health Organization, it was claimed today. The UN agency -- heavily criticised for how it [mis]handled Covid [by killing as many people as possible, per Gates and Schwab] -- is considering 300 amendments to its legally binding rulebook. One measure floated, MPs and campaigners fear, opens the door for member states to be made to comply with any advice orders issued during future pandemics, such as enforcing vaccine passports and border closures. It states that countries vow to "undertake to follow WHO's recommendations in their international public health response." Critics today described the proposal -- which still has to be voted on before ever cropping up in real-world policy -- as an "unprecedented land grab."

Permalink How Did the COVID Pandemic Response Harm Society? A Global Evaluation and State of Knowledge Review (2020-21)

ABSTRACT | Early in the Covid pandemic concerns were raised that lockdown and other non-pharmaceutical interventions would cause significant multidimensional harm to society. This paper comprehensively evaluates the global state of knowledge on these adverse social impacts, with an emphasis on their type and magnitude during 2020 and 2021. A harm framework was developed spanning 10 categories: health, economy, income, food security, education, lifestyle, intimate relationships, community, environment and governance. The analysis synthesizes 600 publications with a focus on meta-analyses, systematic reviews, global reports and multi-country studies. This cumulative academic research shows that the collateral damage of the pandemic response was substantial, wide-ranging and will leave behind a legacy of harm for hundreds of millions of people in the years ahead. Many original predictions are broadly supported by the research data including: a rise in non-Covid excess mortality, mental health deterioration, child abuse and domestic violence, widening global inequality, food insecurity, lost educational opportunities, unhealthy lifestyle behaviours, social polarization, soaring debt, democratic backsliding and declining human rights. Young people, individuals and countries with lower socioeconomic status, women and those with pre-existing vulnerabilities were hit hardest. Societal harms should challenge the dominant mental model of the pandemic response: it is likely that many Covid policies caused more harm than benefit, although further research is needed to address knowledge gaps and explore policy trade-offs, especially at a country-level. Planning and response for future global health emergencies must integrate a wider range of expertise to account for and mitigate societal harms associated with government intervention. Before anyone gets triggered…NO, the above information is NOT really for children! It is designed to be sent to Congressional Representatives, Senators or Members of Parliament. Our public servants don’t seem to be able to comprehend anything beyond a 5th grade level, so I decided that it might be helpful if I simplified it for them. Download the document, print it out and mail it to your public servants. Include a personalized letter (written in crayon). Maybe they will be able understand this if we keep it really simple. Permalink EU country arrests 26 people for celebrating Victory Day

Marking anything other than “Europe Day” in Latvia is now a crime against democracy | More than two dozen residents of Latvia were arrested on Tuesday for violating a law against celebrating the Soviet Union’s victory over Nazi Germany. The EU and NATO member's police even seized a “Russia” jacket from a man in a wheelchair, and arrested another for wearing Soviet medals in public.  By 11:30 pm local time, Latvian police reported a total of 26 arrests, 38 misdemeanor citations and four criminal cases, according to the news outlet Delfi.  While most of the cases were recorded in Riga, the capital, multiple arrests also took place in Daugavpils. In one incident, a senior citizen described as “looking too young to be a veteran of WWII” showed up wearing a jacket with Soviet medals. When police told him to take it off, he resisted arrest.  Five people were arrested for laying flowers with “symbols of military aggression” at the Freedom Monument in the Daugavpils Victory Park. They were charged with “public use of symbols glorifying militaristic aggression and war crimes.” In the same park, police forced a man in a wheelchair to remove his jacket because it said “Russia.”  Two Russian-speaking men were detained at Dubrovinsky Park in Daugavpils after giving an interview to TV3. Their offense was expressing the opinion that fascists had returned to power in Ukraine, with EU support.

Permalink Lula da Silva Appeals in Support of Assange

Brazilian President, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, criticized the lack of global efforts to secure the release of WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange during his visit to London for the coronation of King Charles III. | Lula expressed his dismay at Assange's four-year confinement in Belmarsh Prison in the UK, stating that it was embarrassing that a journalist who exposed wrongdoing was imprisoned without significant action being taken to free him.  “We talk about freedom of expression; the guy is in prison because he denounced wrongdoing. And the press doesn’t do anything in defense of this journalist. I can’t understand it,” Lula told reporters.  Lula, responding to a question about Assange, stated that he had forgotten to discuss this issue with UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak during his visit but intended to write to him upon his return to Brazil. Lula called for a global press movement to defend the right to expose wrongdoing, emphasizing that Assange had not "denounced anything vulgar" but had exposed state surveillance. He criticized the lack of action by the press to secure the journalist's freedom, stating that it was sad but true.

Permalink Elon Musk Reveals Government Read Twitter Users' Private Messages

Elon Musk has made waves in the world of social media since buying out Twitter in October 2022, exposing how the company worked with federal agents to suppress information harmful to Joe Biden's presidential election campaign. | Elon Musk has revealed that US government spies can read Twitter users' private messages. The Big Tech billionaire dropped the bombshell in an interview with Fox News presenter Tucker Carlson, to be aired on Monday night.  In a teaser clip for the show, Musk told how he was shocked to discover how deeply state agents were embedded in the social media site's organisation when he bought the company outright last October.  Musk has already exposed how the San Francisco-based company worked hand-in-glove with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) to suppress the story of Hunter Biden's abandoned laptop computer — which contained a trove of information damaging to his father Joe Biden — during the 2020 US election campaign. The 'Twitter Files' also show how moderators for the platform worked with the feds to suspend users critical of the establishment line.

Permalink French Courts Reject People’s Will & Uphold Macron’s Pension Law, France Erupts in Violence

French President Emmanuel Macron has signed a law increasing the retirement age in France from 62 to 64 and French citizens have been in an uproar. The law does not apply to police and army employees so they can be free and motivated to beat up their fellow French people into submission. | Since mid-January, the country has faced repeated nationwide strikes and riot police have been dealing with increasing violence.  The French National Assembly rejected a vote of no-confidence against the Government of Emmanuel Macron and Prime Minister Elisabeth Borne, in the aftermath of the massive protests.  Macron was forced to appear on TV to ask for ‘calm’ from the population in late March to no avail. Protests, blockages and confrontations intensified as an estimated 3.5 million people took to the streets against Macron’s Pension Reform ‘by decree’.  On Friday, the despised reforms were approved by the Constitutional Council and large scale protests began almost immediately and turned violent.

1. The voluntary consent of the human subject is absolutely essential. This means that the person involved should have legal capacity to give consent; should be so situated as to be able to exercise free power of choice, without the intervention of any element of force, fraud, deceit, duress, over-reaching, or other ulterior form of constraint or coercion; and should have sufficient knowledge and comprehension of the elements of the subject matter involved, as to enable him to make an understanding and enlightened decision. This latter element requires that, before the acceptance of an affirmative decision by the experimental subject, there should be made known to him the nature, duration, and purpose of the experiment; the method and means by which it is to be conducted; all inconveniences and hazards reasonably to be expected; and the effects upon his health or person, which may possibly come from his participation in the experiment. Permalink Journalists and Activists Gather in DC, Call for Assange’s Release on 4-Year Anniversary of Arrest

The Tuesday rally on behalf of the long-persecuted WikiLeaks publisher briefly took an alarming turn when one man seemingly attempted to light himself on fire in an apparent political statement. | Journalists, scholars and political activists descended on the Department of Justice in Washington, DC, on Tuesday to condemn the ongoing legal assault on jailed WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange.  In an event marking the four-year anniversary of Assange’s imprisonment in the UK’s notorious Belmarsh prison following his forcible removal from the Ecuadorian embassy by British police, organizers denounced the Biden administration’s continued persecution of the Australian editor. "Today marks a total of 4,507 days of illegal and arbitrary detention" of Assange, "and it was four years ago today – 1,460 days that he was ‘essentially kidnapped from the Ecuadorian embassy and sent to ‘the Guantanamo Bay of Britain,’ Belmarsh prison, all for telling the truth," explained Action4Assange co-host Misty Winston.  "This case is no longer just about Julian Assange," [CIA whistleblower John] Kiriakou noted. "This case is about the Constitution." "This case is about the First Amendment, freedom of speech, freedom of the press," said the CIA whistleblower, who pointed out that "if Julian Assange goes to prison, then all of us are liable to go to jail."  But according to retired CIA analyst Elizabeth Murray, the potential ramifications don’t end there. Citing public statements of support from international human rights organizations, major mainstream papers, the presidents of Mexico, Bolivia, Colombia, and Argentina, "the US is becoming an outlier, not just because of things like de-dollarization or the way things are going" in Ukraine, "but because of its attitude toward Julian Assange.”

Permalink Psychologist Suspended For 2 Years For Warning About Great Reset and World Economic Forum

The targeting of healthcare professionals who express dissenting views by left-wing activist medical boards and associations is a concerning trend | Belgian Psychologist Steve Van Herreweghe has received a two-year suspension for his statements on social media about The Great Reset and the World Economic Forum. Van Herreweghe intends to appeal the decision made by the disciplinary board of the Psychologists’ Commission, which is an independent body responsible for protecting the title of psychologist and has the authority to take disciplinary action.  Van Herreweghe took to Twitter to express his opposition to the suspension, stating that the issue is not about his title but rather the perceived injustice of the decision and the rejection of his right to free speech. He believes that everyone should have the right to express their opinions on matters related to public health and well-being without fear of political or commercial interference.  The Great Reset, a global initiative proposed by the WEF, is a sinister plot to establish a new world order of global governance. Klaus Schwab, the founder and executive chairman of the WEF, has openly stated that crises, such as the Covid pandemic, present “special opportunities” for the establishment of a new global order. This has led many to realize that the Great Reset aims to undermine national sovereignty and individual freedoms in the pursuit of a technocratic vision of the future.

Permalink 'Why Don't You Release Assange?': Mexican President Strikes Back at US Over Human Rights Report

Mexico’s president said the US government’s destruction of the Nord Stream pipelines and the ongoing political persecution of WikiLeaks publisher Julian Assange shows the US State Department’s accusations of human rights violations in Mexico “should not be taken seriously.” | Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador dismissed a report by the US government on Tuesday accusing his administration of human rights violations as “lies.”  The State Department issued its annual report Monday on “Human Rights Practices.” The publication criticized the Lopez Obrador administration’s treatment of journalists and claimed that in Mexico, “impunity and extremely low rates of prosecution remained a problem for all crimes, including human rights abuses and corruption.” In a stinging rebuke broadcast during his daily news conference, Lopez Obrador described the allegations as politically motivated, and said America’s obvious double standards mean the report “should not be taken seriously.” “Let's see, human rights? Why don't you release Assange?” he asked, referring to the jailed WikiLeaks publisher who faces potential extradition to the US on espionage charges after revealing war crimes committed by American forces abroad. “If you are talking about journalism and freedom, why are you holding Assange?”

Permalink Zelensky backs expulsion of Christian monks

Ukraine’s leader believes seizing the historic Kiev Pechersk Lavra will strengthen “spiritual independence” | Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky has endorsed the order to expel monks of the canonical Orthodox church from the Kiev Pechersk Lavra, insinuating they were agents of Russia. Moscow has called on all Christian churches, as well as the UN and other international organizations, to respond to the “outrageous” decision.  On Friday, the Ukrainian Ministry of Culture notified the monks they had until March 29 to vacate the monastery, claiming they had violated the 2013 agreement under which the state allowed them to administer the national historic preserve. Founded in 1051, the Pechersk Lavra (‘Monastery of the Caves’) is considered the most prominent Orthodox Christian site in Ukraine.  Kiev has already expelled the canonical Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC) from two of the cathedrals above the monastery. Within days of that decision, in early January, the government-created Orthodox Church of Ukraine (OCU) was allowed to hold services on the premises.  On Saturday, the head of the Russian Orthodox Church compared the eviction to the expulsion of Orthodox clergy under Communism. Such a move would “lead to a violation of the rights of millions of Ukrainian Orthodox faithful,” said Patriarch Kirill, in a letter sent to the UN, the heads of other Orthodox churches, Pope Francis of Rome, the Archbishop of Canterbury, Coptic Pope Tawadros II of Alexandria, and others.

Permalink EU nation arrests politician for traveling to Russia

Tallinn authorities suspect Aivo Peterson ofanti-Estonian association” | Two Estonian citizens and one Russian national with permanent residence were detained, Security Police spokesman Harrys Puusepp confirmed to local media, identifying only Peterson by name. Puusepp did not offer any details about the charges against them, saying only that the state prosecutors were investigating them for “creating associations against the Estonian Republic.” Peterson is a prominent member of Together (known in Estonian as Koos, and in Russian as Vmeste), a leftist political movement advocating the peaceful coexistence of Estonians and Russians. He ran for parliament as a candidate of the Estonian United Left in last week’s election. His arrest amounts to government repression, Together activist Andrey Pozdnyakov told the outlet Postimees. Estonian outlets, such as Postimees and the state broadcaster ERR, described Peterson as a “pro-Kremlin activist” and accused him of making “pro-Russian statements.”  Russian-speakers make up about a quarter of Estonia’s population of 1.3 million. The Baltic state, which is a member of the EU and NATO, has adopted a hard line towards Moscow over the conflict in Ukraine. In recent months, Tallinn has advanced the proposal to curtail Russian-language education, and said even the Ukrainian refugees would need to learn Estonian if they wanted to stay.

Permalink The Estonian regime has enacted yet another discriminatory law against its own non-citizens

Maria Zakharova (Мария Захарова) (Russian MFA) | The Estonian regime hurriedly enacted yet another discriminatory law against its own non-citizens — the owners of "gray passports" or "second-class citizens," as they are called in Estonia — the ethnic Russians of this Baltic republic. | This time they were deprived of the right to bear arms. What are Estonian authorities afraid of? Let them answer this question themselves. I will only say that the last time the ban on carrying weapons to ethnic groups was imposed... Adolf Hitler. According to the law of 1938, persons of Jewish nationality were forbidden to participate in the manufacture of weapons and armaments (§ 3) and persons of Roma origin were forbidden to possess and use them (§ 15). As can be seen, the present Estonian government has gone even further than Hitler's in regulating gun rights for Jews in an attempt to further restrict Russian residents of Estonia. Permalink When did believing in biology become a thoughtcrime?

Women’s rights campaigners like Kellie-Jay Keen are being questioned by police for offending trans activists. | [Why did] officers from Sussex Police took a 300-mile round journey from the south coast to the rural town of Trowbridge in Wiltshire last week? The trip was taken to investigate some apparently hurty words spoken by Kellie-Jay Keen – a women’s rights campaigner and founder of Standing for Women (SfW). The focal point of her SfW campaign is reminding people that the dictionary definition of ‘woman’ is ‘adult human female’. This statement of biological fact is deeply offensive to men who like to pretend they’re women and to their fanatical enablers.  A week after the rally, Keen was informed by an officer that ‘somebody has made an allegation… about a hate crime’. The officer made it clear that should Keen not attend a voluntary interview at the police station, she would be arrested. With the threat of being led away from her family home in handcuffs hanging over her, Keen consented to be questioned under caution.

Permalink This is how Fosen could happen

Campaigners from Nature and Youth and Norwegian Samirs Riksforbund Nuorat
have been protesting against the Ministry of Oil and Energy in Oslo since Feb. 23,
2023. The reason for the action is that the wind turbines at Fosen, which the
Supreme Court has said are illegal, have not been demolished. The picture shows

before Monday Feb. 27. Photo: Rasmus Madsen Berg, Natur og ungdom

In October 2021, Norway’s Supreme Court ruled that two wind plants at Fosen are violating Sami rights. However, the wind farm is still operating. | On 11 October 2021, Norway’s Supreme Court unanimously found this to be in violation of Article 27 of the Convention on Civil and Political Rights, and considered the wind power plants to «deny the right to cultural exercise». The permit for the wind power plant was thus declared invalid by the court. The Supreme Court did not determine what should be done with the invalid power plant. The government says it is working to make the invalid permit compliant with SP Art 27, which is why it has not yet been dismantled or moved. The continuous violation of human rights has now lasted for 500 days with no sign of resolution.  The business model of the wind power industry has taken a shortcut through laws and regulations to obtain permits to build and produce wind power plants. The number and size of offenses this entails varies from area to area. The Sami community should have been contacted by the developer in advance to obtain their consent, but the process was ignored, along with the information of the neighbors and other people with rights in the planning area. The municipalities should have checked in advance which laws and regulations could come into conflict with permission in this planning area, but this was not properly done due to an unclear division of com-petence.  Norwegian energy authorities should have made sure that all rights, laws and regulations were properly managed either by themselves or by the municipality. Instead, neither the municipality nor the energy authorities have carried out the coordination obligation of the legislation, and several breaches of the law have occurred.  As a result, the wind power plants at Fosen were built illegally, they are too big with too much noise and with too much negative impact on the grazing areas, on the reindeer and the opportunity to run reindeer herding. Reindeer herding and wind power plants are incompatible, and cannot exist together.

500 days of human rights violations are enough! | NSR Nuorat, the youth organisation of the Norwegian Sami National Association (NSR), and Nature and Youth are now marking 500 days of human rights violations. In protest against the Norwegian authorities' delay of the Fosen verdict, they have been staying in the premises of the Ministry of Petroleum and Energy since 23 February. Eleven Supreme Court judges support the unanimous Fosen ruling that Article 27 of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights was violated when Fosen Vind destroyed the last winter grazing areas of the Sør-Fosen Sijte and Nord-Fosen Siida.

Jourová, the European Commission's Vice President for Values and Transparency, told Euronews Next that Twitter may face penalties for enabling free speech in violation of European Union regulations. Permalink Russia bans forced biometrics collection

A new law forbids discriminating against those who refuse to provide such data | Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed into law a bill that regulates the collection and use of the biometric data of the country’s citizens.  The legislation approved by Putin on Thursday introduces a new state-operated Unified Biometrics System (UBS), set to be created next year. The UBS will handle all biometrics collected from Russian nationals, including face images and voice samples. However, the law prohibits forcibly collecting such data.  Russians seeking to maintain the privacy of their biometric data will be able to opt out of having it collected. They will also be able to easily have it deleted from the system should they change their minds if it has already been gathered. The legislation also outlaws any discrimination against those who decide not to provide such information, stating that a refusal cannot be used as grounds for denying an individual state-provided services or employment.  Effectively, the law makes the state the sole operator of biometric data in the country. Previously, any legal entity was able to collect and use such data in Russia. The legislation also restricts the participation of foreign actors in biometrics collection, enabling only state-owned entities to gather such data.
