Labour, under Keir Stamer, did not win the election. It received less votes than it had received under Jeremy Corbyn in 2017 and 2019. The turnout was low. The overwhelming voter sentiment was 'anything but Tory'. There was no enthusiasms for Labour and Stamer's program. Labour, under Corbyn, had been a real worker party with socialist tendencies. ■ The deep state, with the help of the Israeli embassy, had launched a media campaign against Labour alleging that it was hiding anti-semitic tendencies. Corbyn made the huge mistake of not fighting back against it. In the end he was kicked out despite Labour's healthy election results. [...] Stamer is a controversial figure. He seems to have been placed in his position by the deep state. His previous position was the Chief of the Crown Prosecution Service. He had a major role in indicting and incarcerating Julian Assange. After being installed he has moved Labour to the right. It is now occupying a pro-capitalism center-right position.

Heart surgeon-turned-politician Masoud Pezeshkian will succeed the late Ebrahim Raisi | Reformist candidate Masoud Pezeshkian has won Iran's presidential election, securing 53.3% of the vote and defeating his conservative rival Saeed Jalili, the national election authority announced on Saturday. ● With all ballots counted, Pezeshkian secured 16.4 million votes, while Jalili received 13.5 million votes, Press TV reports. Turnout was 30.5 million, or 49.8% of the 61 million eligible voters, according to a final update at 6:45 am local time (3:15 GMT). ● The snap election was called after the death of President Ebrahim Raisi in a helicopter crash in Iran’s East Azerbaijan Province on May 19. According to Iranian law, a candidate needs to garner at least 50% plus one vote; thus, after no candidate achieved this in the first round on June 28, the election headed into a runoff between the top two candidates.

■ Labour's [Amanda] Hack wins the North West Leicestershire seat ahead of the Conservatives (Ashby Nub News) | It means Andrew Bridgen, the constituency's MP since 2010, lost his seat in what was technically a Labour gain from the Conservatives. Mr Bridgen won the seat as a Conservative but he was thrown out of the party for likening the Government's Covid vaccine policies to the Holocaust. He stood here as an independent candidate but was never likely to win the seat - polling just 1,568 votes this time around. In the 2019 election, Mr Bridgen won the seat with a majority of 20,400 ahead of Labour.
