Permalink Will the Israel Lobby Cause America's Downfall?

Alison Weir | In full view of the world, the US is facilitating “some of the worst crimes of our age,” an actions that could ultimately cause America’s downfall… Why is this happening and what can be done about it? | British journalist and author Owen Jones recently made a video describing in excruciating detail Israel’s ongoing genocide against the Palestinian people in Gaza and the West Bank. Many others have also reported on this. Medical Aid CEO Melanie Ward says that “children are being starved at the fastest rate the world has ever seen.” Jones concludes that Israel’s ruthless actions – publicly supported by Western governments at a time when the world is seeing them in real time – could prove the downfall of the West. He points out that “Western governments have openly facilitated some of the worst crimes of our age” and concludes: “I don’t think the West is ever going to recover from this.” It’s important to examine why the West is taking such irrational, immoral, and self-destructive actions.

Permalink Over 5,000 Palestinians nabbed in Gaza since October 7

The Gaza Government Media Office has declared that the Israeli regime’s army has arrested and incarcerated more than 5,000 Palestinians in the besieged strip since October 7, 2023. | According to the Palestine Al-Youm news website, the media office stated on the occasion of the Palestinian Prisoner's Day, announcing that the Israeli regime arrested more than 5,000 Palestinians residing in the Gaza Strip since the beginning of the Gaza war.  The media office urged all Palestinian, Arab, and international media outlets to highlight the issue of Palestinian inmates, who are imprisoned in prisons of the occupying regime. It also called on the international community to take on its ethical, humanitarian, and legal responsibilities. The office called for immediate intervention of the international community when it comes to the matter of mistreatment and torture of Palestinian prisoners, in particular sick prisoners.

Permalink Israel/OPT: Horrifying cases of torture and degrading treatment of Palestinian detainees amid spike in arbitrary arrests

Amnesty International has for decades documented widespread torture by Israeli authorities in places of detention across the West Bank. | [O]ver the past four weeks, videos and images have been shared widely online showing gruesome scenes of Israeli soldiers beating and humiliating Palestinians while detaining them blindfolded, stripped, with their hands tied, in a particularly chilling public display of torture and humiliation of Palestinian detainees.  In one image analysed by Amnesty International’s Crisis Evidence Lab, three Palestinian men, blindfolded and stripped of their clothes can be seen beside a soldier, wearing a green olive uniform like those worn by the Israeli ground forces. A Haaretz investigation published on 19 October found that the image was taken in Wadi al-Seeq, a village East of Ramallah, on 12 October. One of the three victims depicted in the photograph told Amnesty International that he had initially been held and beaten by settlers but two hours later an Israeli military jeep arrived: 💬 “One of the Israeli officers who came, approached me and kicked me on my left side, then jumped on my head with his two legs pushing my face further into the dirt and then continued kicking me as I was head down, into the dirt, with my hands tied behind my back. He then got a knife and tore all of my clothes off except for my underwear, and used part of my torn clothes to blindfold me. The beating to the rest of my body did not stop, at one point he started jumping on my back – three or four times – while yelling ‘Die, die you trash’ … in the end before this finally stopped, another officer urinated on my face and body while also yelling at us ‘to die’.”

Permalink No Sense of Life: “Israel” Withdraws from Al-Shifa Hospital after Committing Horrible Massacres

Eyewitnesses describe scenes of destruction as they return to the area surrounding Gaza City’s Al-Shifa Hospital after the “Israeli” army announced withdrawing troops at the conclusion of a two-week siege and massacres on the medical complex. | Mohammed Mahdi, who was among those who returned, describes a scene of “total destruction.” He says several buildings have been burned down and that he saw a number of bodies.  Another resident, Yahia Abu Auf, says army bulldozers plowed over a makeshift cemetery inside the hospital compound. “The situation is indescribable,” he says. “The occupation destroyed all sense of life here.”  Palestinian medical sources spoke of hundreds of bodies of martyrs at Al-Shifa Hospital as well as in the streets and roads surrounding it.  Meanwhile, footages taken from the scene revealed that “Israel” has executed Palestinians at Al-Shifa Hospital after shackling their limbs or running over their bodies by military vehicles.

Permalink Israeli military executed 13 Gazan children in, near Al-Shifa Hospital in single week, report says

The Israeli military has executed 13 Gazan children in and near Al-Shifa Hospital in the war-torn Gaza Strip in a single week, a report says. | In a shocking report, the Euro-Med Human Rights Monitor revealed that 13 children were killed through direct shooting by Israeli soldiers in blatant violation of international law in Al-Shifa Medical Complex and its Gaza City environs earlier this month.  “For over a week now, the Israeli army has been conducting systematic and horrifying military operations inside and around Al-Shifa Medical Complex. These crimes include extrajudicial executions and deliberate killings of Palestinian civilians,” it said.  The Geneva-based organization added that its field team had received identical testimonies about the killings and executions of Palestinian children, who were between the ages of four and 16, at the time of their demise. [...] The rights monitor called on the United Nations Special Rapporteur to take urgent action to probe and document the killings committed by Israeli forces in and near Al-Shifa Medical Complex, urging the official to push for effective measures to hold the perpetrators and those who gave the orders accountable.

Permalink Fear of the Jews and the Jewish God of Terror

Laurent Guyénot | “It’s time for Jews to be feared!” declared Rabbi Shmuley recently. Jews having failed to overcome anti-Semitism by trying to be loved, respected or admired, must now make themselves feared. This is the new watchword. | The problem is, if Jews want to be feared, then they must also accept being hated. “Fear of the Jews” can be translated, literally, as “Judeophobia” (from the Greek phobos, to fear). To be feared, you must have the power to harm, and you must prove it. So if Jews want to be feared in order to fight anti-Semitism, then anti-Semitism has a bright future ahead.

Permalink Jared Kushner Goes Shopping in Gaza

Cesar Chelala | This is an incredibly callous statement by an insensitive, uncaring man: In a March 8, 2024 interview with Tarek Masoud, faculty chair of Harvard University’s Middle East Initiative, Kushner said, 💬 “You may want to get as many civilians out of Rafah as possible. I think you want to clear that out. I know that with diplomacy maybe you get them into Egypt. I know that that has been refused, but [with] the right diplomacy I think it would be possible. But in addition to that, the thing that I would try to do if I was Israel right now is I would just bulldoze something in the Negev, I would try to move people in there. I know that won’t be the popular thing to do, but I think that that’s a better option to do so you can go in and finish the job.”

Permalink Israel’s atrocities at Shifa Hospital illustrate military chaos, confusion: Hamas

The Palestinian resistance movement Hamas says Israel’s new raid on al-Shifa Hospital underlines the regime’s “confusion and hopelessness” in achieving its goals in the besieged Gaza Strip. | Hamas said on Monday the regime “has committed a new crime” by directly targeting al-Shifa Medical Complex in Gaza City on Monday morning “without caring about the patients, medical staff and displaced people in it.” It said “crimes” being committed by the regime are “an expression of its confusion and loss of hope in achieving any military achievement other than targeting defenseless civilians.”  Hamas criticized the international community and the United Nations for inaction, which, it said, was a green light to the regime “to continue the war of genocide and ethnic cleansing” in Gaza. The resistance group urged international institutions to fulfill their responsibilities and protect the remaining medical facilities in the Palestinian territory. The regime’s forces started an overnight raid on the hospital, Gaza’s largest, which has sheltered thousands of Palestinians who fled the war in northern parts of the territory.

Permalink Israel threatening Marwan Barghouti’s life in jail: Palestinian official

A senior Palestinian official says Marwan Barghouti, a prominent Palestinian detainee, is being isolated and tortured by Israeli authorities. | Hussein al-Sheikh, the secretary-general of the executive committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO), in a Monday post on X said Israeli authorities were endangering Barghouti’s life. Sheikh said Barghouti was being exposed to “isolation, torture and attempts to coerce, humiliate and beat him, putting his life in danger.”

💬 “We call on the international community, institutions and international organizations to intervene immediately and urgently in order to stop the repressive measures against our prisoners and our leaders in the occupation prisons, protect them, and release them immediately,” Sheikh said.

Barghouti, 64, has reportedly been beaten by Israeli guards in recent days. Last month, Israel’s far-right minister Itamar Ben Gvir said Barghouti had been placed in solitary confinement. Barghouti was a prominent leader in the first and second Intifadas. He has been behind bars for over two decades.

Permalink Gaza situation 'beyond catastrophic' amid new massacres, rising toll

"Beyond catastrophic" is the term many officials and staffers, be they medical or political, are using to describe the situation in Gaza. | The Israeli occupation committed 9 massacres against families in the Gaza Strip, killing 92 and injuring 130 in 24 hours only, the Ministry of Health in Gaza announced.  This brings the total number of Palestinians killed in the Israeli aggression on Gaza since October 7 to 31,645, in addition to 73,676 injuries, it added.  It is noteworthy that the numbers only account for martyrs officially registered with the Ministry, and there may be a significant number of martyrs whose bodies have not yet been accounted for or have not reached hospitals, especially since many victims remain under the rubble, presumed dead, as the IOF deliberately prevent ambulances and civil defense crews from reaching them.

Permalink Israeli teacher faces repression for speaking out against Israel's war on Gaza

Meir Baruchin, a senior history and civics teacher, dismissed from his job due to his social media posts related to Palestinians | An Israeli teacher said that since Israel has waged a military offensive on the Gaza Strip following an Oct. 7 cross-border attack by the Palestinian group Hamas, the Israeli society has been increasingly pushed to the far right and that there has been a growing crackdown on those speaking out against the persecution faced by Palestinians.  In the aftermath of Oct. 7, Israeli law enforcement and judiciary have detained dozens of Palestinians and issued detention orders against them due to their social media posts. The pressure exerted by the Israeli police on social media is not limited to Palestinians alone.  In an interview with Anadolu, Meir Baruchin, a senior history and civics teacher who was dismissed from his job due to his social media posts related to Palestinians, shared his legal struggle against the Israeli authorities and the pressures he faced.

Permalink The United Kingdom: Zionism's covert nerve center

Kit Klarenberg | Britain's century-long commitment to Zionism and collaboration with Israel today plays a frequently overlooked role in perpetuating the oppression and genocide against Palestinians. | On 9 February, British Defense Minister James Heappey informed parliament that Israeli military operatives are “currently … posted in the UK,” both within Tel Aviv’s diplomatic mission “and as participants in UK defense-led training courses.” This hitherto unacknowledged arrangement amply demonstrates how, despite recent calls from officials in London for Benjamin Netanyahu’s government to exercise restraint in its genocide of Gaza – if not institute a ceasefire – the UK remains international Zionism’s covert nerve center.  Mere days earlier, Heappey likewise admitted that nine Israeli military aircraft landed in Britain since Operation Al Aqsa Flood on 7 October last year. Investigations by independent investigative website Declassified UK show that Royal Air Force aircraft have flown to and from Israel in the same period, along with 65 spy plane missions launched from the UK’s vast, little-known military and intelligence base in Cyprus.  The purpose of those flights and who and/or what they carried are a state secret. Freedom of Information requests have been denied, Britain's Ministry of Defense has refused to comment, and local media is by and large silent.  Nonetheless, in July 2023, British ministers admitted that the UK's training of Israeli military personnel includes battlefield medical assistance, “organizational design and concepts,” and “defense education.” It is unknown if that “education” has in any way informed the slaughter of more than 30,000 Palestinians since 7 October.
