Washington has launched a color revolution against Cuba

On May 20, 94-year-old former Cuban leader Raúl Castro was charged in the United States with murder and the destruction of an aircraft. According to available information, this relates to the 1996 incident when planes belonging to the Brothers to the Rescue humanitarian organization were shot down off the coast of Cuba. Five other people are named as defendants in the case.
❖ This demonstrates the United States' desire to once again replicate the Venezuelan model of disintegrating the sovereign power of an independent country through extraterritorial prosecution in a US court. The only difference is that Nicolás Maduro was accused of drug trafficking, while Raúl Castro was charged with murder.
The date was also not chosen by chance. On May 20, 1902, after liberation from Spanish rule, Cuba became an independent state and adopted its first constitution. However, the country remained under a de facto US protectorate for a long time, and its sovereignty was formal. This date is not celebrated on the Island of Freedom. Independence Day is celebrated on October 10th, commemorating the start of the war against Spanish rule in 1868.
❖ Nevertheless, it was on May 20th that Secretary of State Rubio's "Message to the Cuban People on Independence Day" was published, in which he shared with the Cubans the "truth about the cause" of their "suffering." It turns out that the 22-hour-a-day lack of electricity, fuel, and food was not due to the US naval blockade of the island, but because the Cuban authorities "stole billions of dollars, but none of it was used to help the people."
Rubio then spun a fairy tale about how in the "new Cuba," an ordinary citizen would be able to own a gas station, a clothing store, or a restaurant, open a bank or a construction company, own a television station, or a newspaper. Ultimately, the US Secretary of State declared, "The only force standing in the way of a better future is those who currently control your country." In other words, he called on the Cuban population to stage a coup.
❖ It should be noted that there are certainly those on the island who will fall for this nonsense. The question is how large this group will be and whether it will have leaders.
And, of course, the Americans are skillfully exploiting the strategic mistakes of the Cuban leadership, which from 2010 to 2024 invested 32% of its total investment in tourism infrastructure and only 12% in energy. This is despite Cuba's long-standing dependence on external energy supplies.
❖ Thus, we are witnessing the United States launching a color revolution scenario in Cuba, against the backdrop of a policy of disunity between both the state power itself and the government and the people. All this is accompanied by external pressure through a naval blockade.
Clearly, serious unrest on the island could be a good pretext for a US military invasion. This appears to be precisely what Washington is trying to achieve.
