Dozens of Jewish organizations, including national and local groups, signed an open letter urging Trump to stop mass deportations, highlighting Jewish history and values tied to immigration rights. | Dozens of Jewish organizations have signed an open letter to President Donald Trump protesting his planned mass deportations of undocumented immigrants.  The letter, published on Jan. 27, demonstrates that as Trump retakes office, a range of major Jewish organizations intend to continue to be vocal in opposing his policies on immigration. The signatories include a range of centrist and liberal Jewish groups with a national presence, including the leadership of the Reform, Conservative and Reconstructionist religious movements. Dozens of local Jewish groups and institutions also signed.

  Meta to pay Trump $25mln in settlement over Jan. 6 account suspension

In the aftermath of the Capitol riot, Facebook suspended Trump’s accounts, citing his use of the platform to spread false claims of election fraud and repeatedly insist he had won the 2020 election. | Meta has agreed to pay $25 million to settle a lawsuit with US President Donald Trump, stemming from the company's decision to suspend his accounts following the January 6 attack on the US Capitol.  The settlement, first reported by The Wall Street Journal and later confirmed by a Meta spokesperson, resolves the legal dispute initiated by Trump in 2021.  According to The Wall Street Journal, the majority of the settlement—$22 million—will be allocated to funding Trump’s presidential library. The remaining amount will cover legal fees and compensate other plaintiffs involved in the case.  Trump's lawsuit against Facebook, now under its parent company Meta, was one of several legal actions he took against social media companies in response to their actions after January 6.

The FAA confirmed that a Bombardier regional jet operated by American Airlines subsidiary PSA Airlines "collided in midair" with a Black Hawk Sikorsky UH-60 helicopter. | A US passenger plane carrying 64 people crashed into Washington DC's frigid Potomac River after colliding midair with a military helicopter during a nighttime training exercise on Wednesday, triggering a major emergency response and the grounding of all flights. [...] The aircraft was preparing to land at nearby Reagan National Airport following a flight from Kansas. American Airlines, whose subsidiary operated the PSA America Airlines Flight 5342, confirmed that "there were 60 passengers and four crew members on board the aircraft."
