A ministry statement said that 23 people were killed in Israeli attacks in Gaza in the last 24 hours, while 124 others were injured. Among the dead were all 5 members of the Talib family – 3 of whom were children – in the Sabra neighborhood, south of Gaza City, killed in their tent by an Israeli airstrike. The skin is drawn so tightly over the tiny bodies of the emaciated babies in Gaza that they appear both hauntingly newborn and old at the same time. Doctors treating the daily influx of malnourished children – starving under Israel’s total blockade on aid – say some are so undernourished that they have started to lose their sight.
