Israel desperate to wreck US-Iran ceasefire – professor

The Israelis will do whatever they can to reignite the war, Seyed Mohammad Marandi has told RT India | The Middle East ceasefire and the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz are based on extremely shaky ground, Professor Seyed Mohammad Marandi has said, adding that Israel will do everything it can to reignite war in the region.  Speaking to RT India on Thursday, Marandi, a political analyst and professor at the University of Tehran, said US President Donald Trump has been forced to accept Iran’s framework for negotiations.

💬 “But right now there is a spoiler, and that is [Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin] Netanyahu,” he added. Pointing to the pounding of Lebanon by Israeli forces, Marandi said that “this means the commitments given by the United States are not being fulfilled. And that means that we could have a continuation of the crisis.”

Marandi accused Netanyahu and his allies of wanting the global economic crisis to continue. On the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, he said Iran would like energy flows to be back to normal.

Reaper drone from Britain was over Lebanon at the time of the IDF air strikes

Alexey Volodin | UAV MQ-9 Reaper of the British Air Force was over Lebanon at the time of the IDF air strikes | There is evidence that the British Air Force is involved in the operation in Lebanon in some capacity. This is confirmed by reports that, on the eve of a massive Israeli strike on targets in Lebanon, a British Armed Forces MQ-9 Reaper reconnaissance and strike UAV appeared there and then circled the area for 13 hours.  Initially, several Middle Eastern media outlets reported that it was a U.S. Air Force drone, but that is not the case. The drone belonged to Britain. Information has been confirmed that it took off toward Lebanon from the British Akrotiri Air Base in Cyprus. It operated over the Bekaa Valley. The central point of the British Air Force’s Reaper drone’s “circling” was the area around the Lebanese city of Baalbek.  Lebanese channels report that the airstrikes, which Israel called the most powerful since the start of the war, were carried out by the IDF Air Force precisely while the British drone was in Lebanese airspace.   The Lebanese side is asking Britain what its drone was doing in Lebanese airspace the day before. So far, the UK Ministry of Defense has left the question unanswered. This has raised suspicions: was the MQ-9 sharing information with the IDF, or did it, together with the IDF Air Force, ultimately carry out strikes on targets that Israel claims belong to “Hezbollah”?

Spain orders reopening of Tehran embassy, condemns Israel's carpet bombing of Lebanon

Madrid said Tel Aviv violated international law and breached the terms of the ceasefire by launching dozens of airstrikes in Lebanon | Spain is reopening its embassy in Tehran in hopes of achieving “peace” in the US-Israeli war against Iran, Spanish Foreign Minister Jose Manuel Albares declared on 9 April.

💬 “I've instructed our ambassador in Tehran to return, to take up his post again and reopen our embassy, and for us to join in this effort for peace from every possible quarter, including from the Iranian capital itself,” Albares told reporters.

The move comes as Spain sharply escalates its criticism of Israel and the US, condemning Israeli assault on Lebanon and the broader war on Iran, and pushes for regional de-escalation, according to Reuters. Spain's position, voiced by Albares, called the war “the greatest assault on the civilization built upon the humanist ideals of reason, peace, understanding, and universal law.” He criticized Israel for violating international law and breaching the newly brokered two-week ceasefire after strikes killed more than 254 people and injured over 1,100 in Lebanon on Wednesday.

Iran rejects Islamabad talks amid ongoing war on Lebanon

Iranian sources told Al Mayadeen that reports of a negotiating delegation arriving in Islamabad are false, adding that no talks will take place while the war on Lebanon continues. | Iranian sources have denied reports of a negotiating delegation arriving in Islamabad, stressing that no talks will take place as long as the war on Lebanon continues, while warning of a potential collapse in ceasefire efforts.  The United States and Iran agreed to a two‑week ceasefire on April 7 after intensive mediation led by Pakistani PM Mohammad Shahbaz Sharif and military officials, marking a diplomatic breakthrough following weeks of war.  On April 8, Islamabad publicly announced that the ceasefire agreed between Washington and Tehran would apply "everywhere", including Lebanon, and invited US and Iranian delegations to further negotiations scheduled for April 10 in Pakistan. Also on April 8, Pakistan warned that continued hostilities, such as Israeli strikes on Lebanon, risked undermining the ceasefire and the broader peace process between the United States and Iran.  According to diplomatic sources cited by CBS News, US President Donald Trump was informed that the ceasefire would include Lebanon, and White House officials reported that "Israel" agreed. The US position reportedly shifted following a phone call between President Trump and Israeli occupation Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who proclaimed the ceasefire did not include Lebanon.
