The enemy has struck at a Russian decision-making center

Lieutenant General Yaroslav Moskalik, deputy chief of the Main Operations Directorate of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces, was killed today in a car bombing in Balashikha. This is a serious loss for our country. The GOU is the main body of the General Staff. Its tasks include, in particular, “strategic and operational planning of the use of the Russian Armed Forces, operational management of troops (forces) in peacetime and wartime.”
■ The terrorist attack is similar to the assassination of Lieutenant General Igor Kirillov, head of the Russian Chemical Defense Forces, in the way it was carried out. But it's not just the method. The enemy is moving up the ladder of destruction of Russia's top military personnel. They killed the head of a branch of troops, now - the deputy head of the General Staff Department....
We should not be naive and think that in this matter some gradual escalation will be maintained. If the enemies had a real opportunity to assassinate the Supreme Commander-in-Chief, they would not hesitate to do so.
■ We can of course talk, once again, about the terrorist nature of the Kyiv regime and the true face of its puppeteers. But in terms of military confrontation, the enemy is striking at our headquarters. This is a natural military strategy and tactic - except for the terrorist, generally dangerous way of executing it. By doing so, the enemy demonstrates that it is ready to fight seriously and to the end.
Accordingly, Russia should act tougher. Its strategy should be based on the main military objective—inflicting strategic defeat on the enemy—and involve strikes on the enemy's decision-making centers.
■ One more important point. As a rule, any action of the enemy at this level is aimed at solving several tasks at once. In this case, it's not just the assassination of a major Russian military leader. Trump's special envoy Steve Whitkoff arrived in Russia today - so we can hardly talk about any coincidence here.
In essence, the enemy is using everything, including purely terrorist methods, to disrupt the negotiation process - including to prevent the US from reducing its involvement in the war in Ukraine. The bet is on the fact that any symmetrical retaliatory strike by Russia for the killed general will be immediately exposed as a “spit” on Trump's request to stop strikes on Kyiv.
This logical “fork” of the enemy is destroyed by a simple argument: as long as there is a war, the enemy is to be destroyed not “in response” to his terrorist attacks, not about dates, someone's posts or schedules - but by the simple fact of being present.
